Bermhapur : The two high-profile rape cases registered at Baidyanathpur and Nimkhandi police stations of Bermhapur police district were duly investigated, investigated and handled, and the culprits were punished and justice was provided to the victims. In this regard, the State Police Department has promoted the investigating officer, investigating officer and public prosecutor handling the case in both the cases.
It is worth noting that on August 2024, a minor girl (14) from Baidyanathpur police station area was living in Hyderabad with her family. After her parents went to work, the accused Gudu Rajbhar (22) from Bakkar village, Bihar, who lived near her house, got into a relationship and had physical relations with her on the promise of marriage. When the minor girl became pregnant, the family came to Bermhapur to consult a doctor. At that time, the minor girl was found to be 8 months pregnant. After the family members lodged a complaint at Baidyanathpur police station, the police registered a case and SE Kajal Bagh was investigating while DSP Devi Shankar Pratap and SP Dr. Sarthak Sadangi were inspecting the site. The police arrested the accused Gudu and tried him in court, collected evidence and submitted it to the court. Special PP Narayan Panda was prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Special Potts Court tried the case and sentenced the accused to 20 years in prison.
Similarly, on November 5, 2024, the accused Ram Sahu (57) took advantage of the opportunity to rape a minor (15) in the Nimkhandi police station area while she was alone. After the complaint was filed at the police station, the police registered a case and arrested the accused Ram Sanu and tried him in court. The investigating officer of the case and SI Gyan Ranjan Behera submitted the charge sheet in the court, while Berhampur SP Dr. Sarvana Vivek M was investigating the case and Special PP Narayan Panda was prosecuting the case. After trying the case, the Special POCSO Court sentenced the accused to 20 years in prison. The then DIAG of Berhampur, Da, Sarthak Sadangi, along with Asial Kajal Bagh, DSP Devishankar Pratap and Special PP Narayan Panda of Berhampur police station were also arrested for their work in investigating the rape and pregnancy case of a minor girl registered at Baidyanathpur police station and getting the accused sentenced quickly. Similarly, Berhampur SP Da, Sarvana Vivek M, SI Gyanranjan Behera and Special PP Narayan Panda were arrested for their good work in investigating the rape case of a minor girl registered under Nimkhandi police station and getting the accused sentenced quickly. Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania presented a certificate of appreciation to the above officers at a special dedication ceremony held at the Odisha State Police Bhavan on Tuesday for their work in implementing the speedy justice system of the newly enacted criminal law.
