Varanasi, Sept 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today addressed the Bhartiya Bhasha Samagam, organised by Hindusthan Samachar Group at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the importance of linguistic harmony, mutual respect, and understanding of diverse languages and dialects in strengthening national unity and inclusive growth.
In his keynote address, the LG said that a linguistically harmonious society lays the foundation for rapid socio-economic development, promotes social equality, and strengthens social bonds. “Linguistic diversity not only preserves our cultural heritage but also enables every citizen to contribute effectively to the process of nation-building,” he observed.
Sinha highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is not only emerging as a global economic power but is also reclaiming its ancient glory. Referring to the Prime Minister’s Panch Pran, he said it provides a clear roadmap for the nation’s future. “It is a call for all citizens to shed the vestiges of colonial mindset, take pride in India’s rich heritage, and work together in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat to create a strong and developed Bharat,” he added.
Calling upon scholars, researchers, and writers, the LG urged the creation of mechanisms to make India’s vast ancient knowledge accessible in mother tongues through school curricula and libraries. He commended the National Education Policy-2020 for promoting multilingualism, particularly in early education. “Our effort should be that all languages of India achieve their full potential. By weaving together our diverse linguistic fabric, we can create a developed India,” he said.
Emphasising the role of the mother tongue in a child’s development, Sinha said children taught in their native language while also learning other languages grow up to be more skilled, confident, and innovative. He added that linguistic diversity enhances creativity and provides unique perspectives in art, science, technology, and other fields. “India stands as a living testament to this diversity and its extraordinary strength,” he remarked.
